Your Water and Coronavirus

The City of Chippewa Falls Water Departments highest priority is to provide you with a safe and dependable supply of drinking water. According to the EPA, “the COVID-19 virus has not been detected in drinking-water supplies. Based on current evidence, the risk to water supplies is low. Americans can continue to use and drink water from their tap as usual.”

“Coronavirus, which causes COVID-19, is a type of virus that is particularly susceptible to disinfection and standard treatment and disinfectant processes are expected to be effective.” The City of Chippewa Falls uses chlorine gas and sodium hypochlorite for their disinfectant in the water.

Please be assured the City of Chippewa Falls Water Department will continue to be diligent in supplying you with a safe and dependable supply of water.

The Water Department has suspended the residential cross connection control program until further notice due to the Covid-19 Coronavirus Public Health Emergency Proclamation from the Governor.
