Plumbing work is regulated by Chapter 16 of the City of Chippewa Falls Municipal Code of Ordinances and the State of Wisconsin Plumbing Code.

• A Plumbing permit is required to install or alter plumbing as defined in the State Statutes Chapter 145.
• Permits may only be issued to State of Wisconsin Master or Restricted Master Plumbers, except a homeowner may obtain a permit to work on plumbing in a home that he/she owns and occupies.
• Plumbing Contractors intending to dig within the street right of way (includes boulevards, sidewalks, driveway approaches etc.) must first obtain a "Street Opening Permit" from the Department of Public Works.
